First and foremost, you should pay attention to the provisions contained in the contract. “All our expectations must be specified in the contract,” emphasizes Waldemar Sawicki, the district consumer ombudsman. “If we expect to have a room with a sea view, we must confirm this in the terms of the contract.”
If it turns out on site that the service provider has failed to comply with the terms of the contract, we must immediately notify either the service provider or the representative (if it is a foreign trip), as well as the trip organizer. It is also worth documenting this, for example by taking photographs.
“The service provider should respond immediately and restore the proper conditions for providing the service,” says the district consumer ombudsman. However, if they are unable to do so, we can use another solution—an possible reduction in the service price. “If that does not happen either, after returning we can report it to the trip organizer and seek compensation, as well as redress for a so-called ruined holiday,” adds Waldemar Sawicki.
If we still have any doubts, it is best to visit the district consumer ombudsman’s office, located in the new headquarters of the Bolesławiec District Office (ul. Armii Krajowej, room 6), which is open:
- on Mondays—from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Tuesday–Friday—from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
