On July 8, Zgorzelec police officers, conducting operations against people suspected of fraud in the area of the A4 motorway, detained a 20-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, both Romanian citizens, who were linked to these crimes.

Police received information that a person driving a passenger car with German license plates was trying to stop other vehicles on the A4. Shortly afterward, they spotted the reported car near the motorway. A vehicle with Polish registration plates was parked nearby, driven by a resident of the Silesian Voivodeship. The man told police that he had wanted to help the couple who had stopped him, allegedly because they had run out of fuel and had no way to get home. During the conversation, the pair offered to sell him two gold signet rings at a very attractive price. It turned out that they were made of tombac and were worth very little.

Officers are investigating all the circumstances of the case in detail and checking whether the detained Romanian citizens have committed other similar crimes. The suspects in the A4 fraud case now face up to eight years in prison.
