Officers from the Criminal Department of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec carried out an operation targeting property crime. During the operation, they detained a 26-year-old resident of Zgorzelec suspected of breaking into vehicles.
As the police determined, the man had, among other offenses, broken into a car at the end of May this year in the city center. After damaging the door lock, the perpetrator entered the vehicle and stole a backpack containing a laptop worth nearly 2,000 zlotys.
The man was also responsible for other thefts. Taking advantage of the owner leaving a car unlocked, he took documents, money and other small items worth approximately 1,000 zlotys from it at the beginning of May this year.
Moreover, officers found 20 rounds of various types of ammunition in the suspect's apartment. They are now investigating all the circumstances of the case in detail. The 26-year-old faces up to 10 years in prison.
