On June 22, exactly at 8:00 a.m., Deputy Commander of the 10th Dragon Mechanized Battalion, Major Karol Szczepaniak, reported the battalion’s readiness for certification. Captain Anna Czajkowska-Małachowska, chief of staff of the component assigned to the NATO Response Force, described the inspection: “The inspections are taking place according to schedule. We began with a personnel roll call, that is, checking the staffing of the mechanized battalion and the documentation it holds, which is necessary for any potential action during the duty period. Next, training and operational documents prepared at individual duty positions will be checked, as will orders and directives.

On Thursday morning, equipment, all types of vehicles, weapons and soldiers’ personal equipment were inspected as part of the technical roll call.

These are only the first days of the challenge. The soldiers still face many tasks: occupying the defense area and reaching operational readiness, organizing and conducting operations, patrolling, conducting convoys, carrying out C-IED (in English, Improvised Explosive Device – improvised explosive device) procedures, carrying out MEDEVAC (Medical Evacuation – evacuation of the wounded)/CASEVAC (Casualty Evacuation – medical evacuation of wounded or injured personnel) procedures by air and land, complete decontamination, and carrying out procedures for recovering isolated personnel.
