Students at the II General Secondary School can develop their talents through school interest clubs and the programme. Thanks to their passion and the expertise of their teachers, the school received the prestigious School Developing Interests and Supporting Talents certificate in 2015.
Olympiads and competitions
Teachers Anna Lisiak and Barbara Sykulska prepared students for the History Olympiad, the Solidarity Olympiad (two students reached the provincial final), the Knowledge of Antiquity Olympiad (two students reached the regional final), and the Fate of Soldiers and the Polish Armed Forces Olympiad (Marcin Wolański became a national-stage laureate).
Teachers Anna Słaboń, Michał Król, Robert Mazur and Gracja Słotwińska prepared students for the Write-on competition, organised by Cambridge English (Ewelina Dubiel qualified for the second national stage), while Mieczysław Szwed prepared them for the Fire Safety Knowledge Tournament and the First Aid Championships, and Ms Małgorzata Kędziora for the Environmental Knowledge Olympiad, the Fire Safety Knowledge Tournament, the First Aid Championships, the Environmental Knowledge Olympiad, the National Biology Competition “Oxford Educational – A World Without Borders” and the Ecological Knowledge Competition on the Bioregion.
As part of St Patrick’s Day, WSB in Wrocław organised TOEFL Junior tests for secondary-school graduates. Certificates were obtained by Michał Mielnik, Pamela Halbiniak, Angelika Kopeć and Mariusz Wierzchosławski. The students were prepared by their English teachers.
The two priests working at the school, Jakub Norman and Dawid Kostecki, prepared students for the Catholic Theology Olympiad (Łukasz Janiec took second place in the Diocese of Legnica).
TeacherIwona Florkowska prepared students for the Art Olympiad and the Jacek Kaczmarski Song Review. Beata Solpa-Tertel prepared students for the Entrepreneurship Olympiad. Przemysław Kania achieved the highest placing in the competition held under the patronage of President Andrzej Duda, “Cursed Soldiers—Unbroken Heroes”. Elżbieta Magłysz prepared a student for the National Family Knowledge Olympiad; student Alicja Myśliwiec placed eighth in Poland.
Ewelina Kałużna prepared students for the Lower Silesian Team Chemistry Competition organised by Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Edyta Gawlik-Lippik prepared students for the International Linguistics Olympiad (Agnieszka Czerwień qualified for the district stage), while Elżbieta Magłysz prepared students for the competitions “In the Land of Lusatian Forests” and “Lusatian Nature and History”. Dorota Kurowska prepared students for the Oxford mathematics competition. For language competitions, students were prepared by Joanna Turczyńska (German) and Izabella Daniel (French).
Students also took part at the school stage in the Economic Knowledge Olympiad, the English Language Olympiad, the Law Knowledge Olympiad, and the Olympiad of Polish Literature and Language.Sports championships and competitions

Individually, the II General Secondary School has a Lower Silesian high-jump champion,
Mateusz Tofil, who cleared 210 cm, breaking the Lower Silesian Schools League record; a Lower Silesian 200-metre runner-up, Kacper Popławski; a Lower Silesian 800-metre runner-up, Karolina Wolska; and two fourth-place finishers: Amelia Kołodziej in the high jump and Karolina Mielnik in the discus throw.

A medal for Anna LisiakAt King Jan III’s Palace in Wilanów, during the final of the ninth edition of the Olympiad for upper-secondary schools, “The Fate of the Soldier and the History of the Polish Armed Forces”, the Head of the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression,
Jan Józef Kasprzyk, honoured teacher Anna Lisiak with the “Pro Patria” Medal. The medal was awarded in recognition of special заслуги in cultivating the memory of the struggle for the homeland’s independence.

“This is our modest way of thanking you for the enormous effort you make every year to instil in young people the passion that history represents. You teach the younger generation history and respect for the past so that we can build a community and be a nation,” said the head of the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression while presenting the medals.
Marcel Dula’s passion is equestrian sport. He has ridden horses since the age of 12. He competes in eventing and took fifth place in the Polish Junior Eventing Championships and third place in the eventing championship cup.
In the future, Marcel is considering further developing his equestrian talent in Germany, in Warendorf, a city known for hosting equestrian tournaments.

“Ala combines ability with interest,” Elżbieta Magłysz said of the student. “It is an important Olympiad and a high placing. The student demonstrated extensive knowledge of psychology and pedagogy. It is a great success,” the teacher stressed.
