On June 10, one of the maneuver company’s platoons conducted another routine patrol in the Mitrovica area. The soldiers set out early in the morning on a motorized patrol to the designated area. The patrol included: Capt. Grzegorz Lewandowski, Capt. Marcin Pawłowski, Lt. Grzegorz Grabaś, Senior Sgt. Rafał Witek, Senior Cpl. Łukasz Michałek, Senior Cpl. Mariusz Rychlicki, Cpl. Jacek Marciniuk, Senior Private Adam Piela, Senior Private Rafał Golec, Senior Private Paweł Orłoś. The patrol commander that day was Sgt. Jarosław Uryga.

“Although this is another routine patrol, we have to prepare very carefully for each one. My duties include checking the equipment and briefing the soldiers on the tactical situation, presenting the route and discussing what to do in the event of a vehicle breakdown,” says the patrol commander. Sergeant J. Uryga is one of the more experienced non-commissioned officers carrying out duties in the mission area. He assumed his duties several months earlier than his colleagues from the 23rd Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec. He therefore had the opportunity to gain experience alongside soldiers who have already completed their service as part of the previous rotation.

The purpose of the patrol was to ensure security and compliance with international agreements in the mandate area, exchange up-to-date information concerning the maintenance of security along the patrol route, respond to instances of law violations in border areas—including illegal border crossings, tree felling and smuggling—and demonstrate the military presence of KFOR forces.

The maneuver company of the 34th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent KFOR in the Republic of Kosovo performs its daily tasks to a very high standard, as confirmed, among other things, by the opinions of its superiors.
