Officers from the Department for Combating Economic Crime of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław obtained information about the planned smuggling operation. With the assistance of officers from the Traffic Department, the police stopped the suspect vehicle. The driver, a 32-year-old resident of Środa County, claimed that he was transporting radiator hoses. It turned out that the vehicle was filled to the brim with cigarettes of various brands originating from beyond the eastern border. The value of the contraband on the Polish market was PLN 200,000. However, given that the cigarettes were intended for the German market, the driver could have earned as much as PLN 680,000 from the smuggling operation.
