The opening of the ceramic sculpture exhibition “Stoneware I. With the Artist’s Support” took place on Friday evening, 27 May. It was an opportunity to meet the Dresden-based artist and talk about his work. Moritz Liebig creates unique kinds of hybrids. He combines cast fragments with doll figures, toys, distorted vessels and modules from various machines. He freely shapes them through casting, colouring and glazing. In doing so, he strips objects of their original meanings and gives them an entirely different value.
As intended by the artist, the exhibition is accompanied by a map. The works have not been labelled directly beside the ceramic sculptures. The artist wants viewers to interpret the content contained in the work in their own way and then confront their feelings with his intention.
You are welcome to visit; the exhibition is open until 30 June.
