6 June: “The Caretaker”, starring Tim Roth. In 2012, Roth chaired the jury of the Cannes section Un Certain Regard, which awarded its top prize to Michel Franco’s film “After Lucia”. Fascinated by the young director’s work, the actor approached him with an offer to appear in his next film. This is how “The Caretaker” came about. The film has received excellent reviews, with critics particularly highlighting Roth’s restrained and delicate yet memorable performance in the lead role. David is a nurse who cares for terminally ill patients every day. He treats his profession as a calling and forms a strong emotional bond with every person under his care. Outside work, he is a lonely, withdrawn man guarding the secret of his past. He needs each of his patients just as much as they need him.
