The Network of Art-House Cinemas is a project of the National Film Archive whose aim is to popularize film culture, promote films of high artistic merit, and provide educational activities. Films by true masters of European cinema, such as Werner Herzog, Federico Fellini, Luis Buñuel and Ingmar Bergman, as well as by leading directors from outside the Old Continent, such as Francis Ford Coppola, Akira Kurosawa, Woody Allen and Peter Weir, are among those preferred by the network’s cinemas. The network’s program is financed by the Polish Film Institute, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and the National Film Archive.
The Network of Art-House Cinemas currently comprises 62 cinemas throughout Poland. In addition to Orzeł, the SKS has expanded to include Kino Metalowiec in Kraśnik, Kino Paradox in Kraków, Kino Krokus in Nowy Sącz and Kino Zamek in Szczecin.
