After the morning accident on the A4 motorway, through traffic heading towards Zgorzelec was diverted through Bolesławiec. As one might easily imagine, this caused traffic jams on national road no. 94 and in Bolesławiec itself. A queue of vehicles (mainly trucks) formed practically from the motorway exit, through Tomaszów Bolesławiecki, Kruszyn, the roundabout at the entrance to the bypass and then along the bypass, Cieszkowskiego Street, all the way to the roundabout at Kościuszki Street and onto the motorway.

In addition, some vehicles travelled through the city: along 1000-lecia Avenue, Chrobrego Street, Tamka and Kościuszki Street. In this case, the traffic jam began as early as the railway station and continued to the roundabout at Kościuszki Street. At around 2:00 p.m., traffic on the motorway was restored and the situation in Bolesławiec returned to normal.

It is not difficult to imagine how terrible driving would be if there were no A4 motorway and all through traffic (in both directions) travelled along the streets of our city. How much would the number of accidents, collisions and pedestrian knockdowns increase? How much time would we lose in traffic jams? How much more money would road repairs consume, and would the creation of an economic zone be possible at all?
