The BKS defense was struggling. Nitarski and Pietrzak were the weak links in the defensive line. Our players lost the ball before they could move the play beyond the halfway line. In the 20th minute, following Demczar’s controversial foul, the referee awarded Orzeł a penalty. Woźniak beat Przykłota with a shot into the left corner of the goal. A few minutes later, Rissmann put the ball into the hosts’ net, but the referee ruled that the BKS player had been offside and disallowed the goal. The referee also failed to react when one of Orzeł’s players touched the ball with his hand inside his own penalty area. In the 32nd minute, following an error by the Bolesławiec defense, the hosts were already 2–0 ahead (Owczarek scored).
In the second half, the referee showed our goalkeeper a red card. Przykłota came out to the ball outside the penalty area and cleared it with his knee. Unfortunately, the ball, deflected off an opposing player, struck our goalkeeper near the armpit. The referee deemed this an intentional handball outside the penalty area, and Przykłota had to leave the pitch. Marek Siudak took over in the Bolesławiec goal. The hosts scored their third goal from a free kick following this controversial incident. Chęciński entered his name on the scoresheet.
Trailing 0–3, the Bolesławiec players “opened up,” having nothing left to lose. Unfortunately, the hosts effectively exploited our team’s mistakes and scored two more goals (Krakowiak and Chęciński). There is no doubt that the hosts’ team was better—faster in building attacks and playing first-time football—but the referee also helped Orzeł achieve such a high-margin victory. BKS created dangerous chances, but in most cases the referee ruled that our players had been offside. BKS Bolesławiec lost 0–5 away to Orzeł Ząbkowice Śląskie.
