In recent years, the weather has not favoured May Day picnics on the grass. It was cold, cloudy and sometimes rainy, so the Municipal Cultural Centre and the associations and institutions supporting it organizationally have decided that this time they will invite people to the picnic in the second half of May.

This does not mean, however, that the May celebrations will be without attractions. Thanks to the Municipal Cultural Centre, the music school, the library, students of the Brothers Śniadecki General Secondary School, seniors and the children from the Lusatia ensemble from Osiek Łużycki, this year's Constitution Day on 3 May will be different than usual and will continue on 8 May.

The Zgorzelec celebrations of Constitution Day on 3 May will begin with the traditional Holy Mass for the Homeland, celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St Boniface's Church, followed by a short patriotic ceremony at the Millennium Monument.

In the afternoon, at the Rev. Jerzy Popiełuszko Square, students of the Brothers Śniadecki General Secondary School and the Mayor of Zgorzelec will read excerpts from the Constitution of 3 May to us from 4:00 p.m. Once they finish, the children from the Lusatia ensemble from Osiek Łużycki and the seniors from the Municipal Senior Citizens' Club will invite everyone to dance a polonaise together. Shortly afterwards, at 5:00 p.m., Janusz Olejniczak's piano recital will begin in the foyer of the Municipal Cultural Centre. He will visit Zgorzelec at the invitation of the State Music School in Zgorzelec, which is celebrating a triple anniversary this year.
