The exhibition features a series of ceramic paintings focused on the human figure. We invite you to view the exhibition.
On Friday, 15 April, the exhibition opening was held at BOK-MCC, with the artist in attendance. Weronika Surma is currently a doctoral student in the Department of Ceramics at the E. Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław. She mainly works with ceramics, creating ceramic paintings in which she seeks to combine drawing with painting and sculpture. The works presented at the exhibition in Bolesławiec comprise several ceramic paintings created as part of the 2015 creative scholarship awarded by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, as well as several selected works created between 2011 and 2014.
As the artist herself says, the exhibition’s central theme is human figures shown in various arrangements and perspectives. These works express a subjective fascination with the human body and reveal the beauty hidden in every part of it. They demonstrate the beauty concealed in imperfections, discover the attractiveness of what may at first glance seem ugly and unaesthetic, and transform flaws into a mastery of shapes and forms.
Weronika Surma’s ceramic paintings inspire viewers to try to see the beauty hidden in every corner of the body.
