He stole his mother’s phone and money. He said he had debts

Officers from Police Station II in Jelenia Góra, as a result of their investigation, detained a 20-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra County suspected of theft.

They established that on 10 March this year, the man robbed his mother. The crime took place in one of the localities in Jelenia Góra County. The stolen items included a mobile phone, a wallet containing cash and an identity card. The victim estimated her total losses at nearly PLN 1,000.

It turned out that the mobile phone, which the 20-year-old had pawned at a pawnshop, had already been sold. Police identified the person who bought it and recovered the device.

The 20-year-old explained that he had committed the theft because he was experiencing financial difficulties, and that he had used the money obtained in this way to repay his debts.

He could now face up to five years in prison.
