On 1 April 2016, the Act on State Assistance in Raising Children enters into force. It introduces an obligation to pay foster families a “child-raising allowance” for children up to 18 years of age. The allowance will be granted upon application by the foster family and awarded for 12 months.
Currently, the Powiatowe Family Support Centre provides financial assistance to 117 foster families caring for 157 children. 90 foster families (130 children) are entitled to receive the allowance. The projected amount of child-raising allowances paid to foster families will be approximately PLN 65,000 per month.
