We have already written about the county ZOZ in our newspaper. “If you attend council sessions, you know that there have always been arguments between the coalition and the opposition about the operating theatre at the county hospital,” said Karol Stasik, Chair of the County Council Karol Stasik, during a press conference held at the beginning of March this year at the Bolesławiec County Office. He stressed: “We are determined to build a new operating theatre.”
How will the County finance this investment? There are three options. (We described them in detail in the article The County has a problem with the hospital. What about the operating theatre?.)
The issue returned during the March session of the Bolesławiec City Council. Jarosław Kowalski, the Council’s head, addressed the councillors:
I arranged with Zofia Barczyk, director of the county hospital in Zgorzelec, a visit to this hospital on 7 April. The programme includes learning about the hospital’s medical activities and seeing how the hospital’s new wing operates, which also contains an operating theatre.
And he noted: “We know that an operating theatre is mandatory in every hospital. If it is not opened by the end of 2016, the Bolesławiec hospital may be closed.”
“A hospital can also operate without an operating theatre; this does not result in its closure,” retorted Ariel Fecyk of the Local Government Platform.
J. Kowalski replied that he had used the word “may”. He stressed: “According to the information we have received, the hospital in Zgorzelec has obtained PLN 100 million in funding over the past few years, and 1,200 people work there for 800 beds. It is worth seeing. We will see something we have not seen before, and it will be helpful in discussions in Bolesławiec.”
“When it comes to the hospital, I think everyone wants us to have the best possible care in Bolesławiec, rather than travel to Zgorzelec, Lubań or other facilities,” added the Chair of the City Council.
We will return to this topic.
