After a long weekend night, a 27-year-old resident of Bydgoszcz County will have plenty to remember. He was detained by police officers from Zgorzelec. Taking advantage of a mandatory break from driving his truck, the man decided to have fun at a nightclub. On his way back, he noticed a barrier restricting access to a petrol station. Without giving it much thought, he decided to take it with him.
After several minutes of “struggling,” he tore the barrier out. He tucked it under his arm and walked away. He did not enjoy his loot for long, however. Just a few minutes later, police officers spotted him in one of the nearby car parks.
During a conversation with the officers, the 27-year-old explained that alcohol was to blame for everything. The man had nearly 2 per mille of alcohol in his system. The barrier, worth approximately PLN 2,000, was returned to its owner, while the suspect was taken to police custody.
The barrier thief now faces up to 5 years in prison.
