The scholarship project for secondary school students is financed in more than 68 percent by money from the European Social Fund. The remainder is covered by the state budget. A student attending an upper-secondary school ending with the matura examination may apply for the scholarship. There are two conditions: they must live in a rural area, and the family income must not exceed PLN 504 per person. The county authorities may withdraw the scholarship if the beneficiary has more than 8 unjustified hours of absence in a month or has to repeat a school year for reasons other than health-related ones.

The Department of Education, Culture, Culture and Sport applies for scholarships every year. This year, scholarship recipients from Bolesławiec County received PLN 660,000. This amount, awarded by the Project Evaluation Committee, represents two-thirds of the sum allocated for this purpose last year. There are approximately 600 beneficiaries in our county. As Alicja Krzyszczak, Head of the Department of Education, told us, the first money may appear as early as April.
