Officers from the Criminal Division of Police Station I in Jelenia Góra detained a 23-year-old resident of Kowary suspected of thefts.
They established that the thefts took place in two shops in Jelenia Góra. In one of them, located in the city centre, the 23-year-old stole 18 watches worth PLN 720. The man came to the shop with a friend. He told the salesperson that he was interested in buying a watch, so the salesperson showed him the entire tray, which contained 18 watches. The friend distracted the victim, while the thief took the tray and ran away.
The officers also established that, in a shop selling household fixtures, the Kowary resident, again taking advantage of the staff’s inattention, stole a linear drain worth PLN 850.
After being notified of the incident, the officers began searching for the man suspected of the thefts. The man had previously been in conflict with the law, so the officers easily recognized him in surveillance footage.
The 23-year-old confessed to the thefts and stated that he had sold the stolen property. He could now face up to 5 years in prison.
