He returns to his home region and joins the National Military Union. As the commander of a partisan unit, for the next six years he continues fighting for a free Poland against the Soviet occupier, sowing fear among UB officers and collaborators. The communist authorities do everything they can to track down and eliminate the “enemy of the people’s government.”
