The accident occurred after 7:00 p.m. before Wilczy Las on national road 94, at the intersection toward Lubków and Iwiny. Two passenger cars and a van towing a trailer with a fourth car collided. The two passenger-car drivers were taken to hospital. The van driver died at the scene. The passenger cars had Bolesławiec and Zgorzelec registration plates, while the van had Legnica plates. The road is blocked. Police are working at the scene, marking the evidence.

Preliminary findings indicate that the driver of a passenger car traveling toward Bolesławiec stopped at the intersection because he wanted to turn toward Iwiny. He was giving way to oncoming vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle then crashed into the rear of his car. This caused the first car to move into the left lane. The driver of the van, traveling toward the motorway, then struck it. The van and the attached trailer left the road and ended up in a field.
