It is still far from perfectly clean on Bobrowa Ścieżka, but the quick and very committed response of MOSiR director Zbigniew Kowalczyk after our article "MOSiR and Radio Wroclaw have a dive, not a running trail" is encouraging. We also wrote about the matter to MZGK and the Municipal Guard, but unfortunately, to this day neither Władysław Bakalarz, nor Kamila Chalewicz-Pudłowska has replied to us.
In our emails, we asked whether the boulevard along the Bóbr would be cleaned regularly and comprehensively by MZGK. And if not, what the problem was: a lack of people, funds or procedures? We asked the Municipal Guard how often it could patrol the trail and what problems officers encountered during these patrols.
We thank the head of MOSiR for taking care of the image of one of the most beautiful places in Bolesławiec. We understand that the problem is serious, because cleaning this trail is a Sisyphean task. Below, we reproduce director Zbigniew Kowalczyk’s letter.
Thank you very much for raising the issue of littering in our city, which MOSiR struggles with at all its facilities, just as it struggles with the vandalism of equipment and installations that are, after all, our shared property. I regret that the example you described is the Bobrowa Ścieżka administered by the Centre. Naturally, we have addressed the matter. I also assure you that the trail is cleaned regularly. We do this less often during the winter season, but outside it, MOSiR Bolesławiec employees clean it two or three times a week. Unfortunately, these are tasks that can quite rightly be called “Sisyphean”. The same applies to repairing the signs and directional-distance arrows, bins and wooden benches (leaving aside the need to fish them out of the Bóbr first). I would also like to inform you that the trail is patrolled by the Municipal Guard; unfortunately, its actions and interventions do not produce the expected results.
Of course, I share your view that the area along the Bóbr is “one of the most beautiful places in our city”; it is also a wonderful place for afternoon and weekend recreation. Therefore, we make every effort to ensure that these areas are welcoming (and clean) for residents. I would also like to assure you that we will undertake, as far as possible, additional measures to ensure that in the future Bobrowa Ścieżka is no longer an example of littering in the city.
Once again, thank you for raising the subject, and if I may, I would already like to join the campaign proposed in the article: “Bolesławiec without litterbugs. The cleanest city in Poland”.
