A girl went for a walk with an Amstaff, but she was unable to control it. It could be said that the dog hunted the injured woman, as it crept toward her while she was taking out the rubbish. It ran up to the woman and clamped its jaws on her leg. The pressure of its powerful jaws caused serious damage to the limb.
Fortunately, the dog released its victim on its own. The woman was in shock and did not even call an ambulance. The dog’s owners claimed that the injuries were not too serious. However, it turned out that the injured woman would have to undergo a difficult operation to regain full mobility. She turned to the law firm to seek compensation.
Kancelaria Verius demanded PLN 20,000 in compensation for the serious damage to health caused by the bite, as well as compensation for pain and suffering. The dog’s owner accepted responsibility for failing to properly supervise the dog. The case is currently ongoing; the woman is still undergoing rehabilitation, and we are negotiating the terms of a settlement.
What should you do in such situations?
It is best to call the police to the scene of the incident and, if the injuries are serious, an ambulance as well. Immediate medical attention is necessary even if the wounds are superficial, because there is a risk of contracting rabies and tetanus. If you visit a private doctor after the attack, you should collect your medical records and named invoices for all appointments, procedures and medicines. Depending on the injuries sustained, you should choose the appropriate medical specialist. When seeking compensation, complete medical documentation is very important.
