Disturbing information is coming from BKS. The participation of the BKS Bobrzanie senior team in the fourth-division competition is in jeopardy. The team, which earned only 1 point in the previous round and is last in the table, may not start the spring round at all. The reason? Squad and financial problems.
So far, the team has not played a single friendly, while the competition is set to begin in mid-March. BKS president Mirosław Lik explains that the reason for this situation is a lack of players and money. In the president’s view, the city’s reduction of the annual subsidy for the senior team, from PLN 51,000 to PLN 30,000, calls into question the point of entering the competition.
According to our information, approximately PLN 100,000 is needed to run a team at fourth-division level for a year. The final decision on whether BKS will participate in the competition or withdraw from it will be made on Thursday, at a meeting between the board and the team.

If BKS does not start in the competition, the senior team will be relegated to the A-class level (from the fourth to the sixth division). After such a drop, by two competition levels, returning to the fourth-division level could take several years.
Such a bleak scenario will certainly worry the most loyal supporters, who have always cheered for BKS, a club with traditions that has played an important role in our city. One might think that our city could afford a team at least in the fourth division, playing for Bolesławiec, its residents and its supporters. Yet in this case, it turns out that everything once again comes down to money.
