This is one of the longest-awaited road and pedestrian infrastructure projects in Bolesławiec. Residents of Różana–Jaśminowa Street (Osiedle Kwiatowe) have been waiting 25 years for the road to be built. Lighting is also lacking.

We had high hopes—councilors made huge promises that it would finally be completed by the end of 2016. Unfortunately, it did not happen this time either.

We have had years of correspondence with the UM. The terse, downright ridiculous explanations from the UM that there is no money are the same old story repeated for many, many years…

She added:

Somehow, money can be found for others. Unfortunately, nobody prominent lives here… People feel like second-class citizens.

“The project for carrying out the task was prepared in 2010. It mainly served to issue approvals for investors who had purchased building plots in this area. Development of these properties is still underway. In our city, the principle has been adopted that roads are built once the properties along them have been developed, so that a completed road is not damaged during the construction of utility networks,” explains Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for Bolesławiec City Hall. “The unpaved road is regularly leveled and reinforced to provide residents with access to the properties that already exist.

She adds: “When determining the urgency and importance of tasks to be carried out in 2016, the installation of a wearing course along the entire length of Różana Street was planned. This task is necessary because, years ago, only a single layer of asphalt—the binder course—was laid during construction of this road; after more than a decade, it has weathered and is crumbling. Completing this task is essential; otherwise, the cost of the work in subsequent years would be disproportionately higher.

We will return to this topic.

Update

Bolesławiec City Councilor Leszek Chudzik informed us that he had filed an interpellation on the matter the previous year and that the project is to be completed in 2017.
