The leading roles are played by Agata Kulesza (the series “Blood of Blood”, “Ida”, “Rose”, “Suicide Room”), Gabriela Muskała (“Blood of Blood 2”, “The Evasion”, “Life Feels Good”, “To Be Like Kazimierz Deyna”) and Marian Dziędziel (“Under the Strong Angel”, “The Kindergarten Teacher”). They are joined by Marcin Dorociński (“The Hunt”, “Jack Strong”), Małgorzata Niemirska (“Close-Ups”, “Four Tank-Men and a Dog”) and Łukasz Simlat (“The Kindergarten Teacher”, “The Evasion”).
Marta (Kulesza) has achieved success in life; she is a well-known actress and a star of popular television series. Despite her fame and money, she still cannot put her life in order. She raised her now-adult daughter alone (played by debuting actress Maria Dębska).
Unlike her strong and domineering older sister, Kasia (Muskała) is sensitive and prone to exaltation. She works as a teacher, and her marriage is far from perfect. Kasia’s husband (Marcin Dorociński) is a loser in life who unsuccessfully searches for work.
The sisters do not particularly like each other, but their mother’s sudden illness (Niemirska) forces them to act together. They must look after their beloved but despotic father (Dziędziel). Marta and Kasia gradually grow closer and regain their lost contact, which leads to a series of tragicomic situations.
“My Daughters Are Cows” is a warm, genuine story about family relationships, free of falseness and cheap sentimentality. As true as life itself—sometimes sad, sometimes joyful. “My dream was to construct the film so that viewers would take turns laughing and crying, but leave the cinema uplifted rather than depressed,” said Kinga Dębska, the director. And she succeeded.
Running time: 90 min. Muza Cinema from January 22 to 28.
