This obligation is imposed by the provisions of the Act of 13 September 1996 on maintaining cleanliness and order in municipalities, as well as by the resolution of the Legnica City Council of 27 February 2006 establishing the regulations for maintaining cleanliness and order in the Legnica municipality.

Owners and managers of buildings are responsible, under threat of penalties, for:

  • removing snow and ice accumulated on roofs, clearing mud, snow, ice and other contamination from pavements located directly alongside the property, and
  • removing overhangs (icicles) from eaves, gutters and other parts of the property.

Neglecting these obligations is an offence punishable by a fine of PLN 100 or by referring an application for punishment to the court. Municipal Guard officers will check whether the persons responsible are complying with the regulations.
