Today – 4 January – we will present the western “Slow West”. In the film, a Scottish gentleman crosses the vast prairies of the Wild West in search of the lost love of his life – the beautiful and brave Rose. In the wild regions of the legendary land, where it is better not to appear without a loaded weapon and a supply of ammunition, can anything more than mere survival matter?
On 11 January, we will screen the historical drama “Aferim!”. In 1835, Constable Constandin and his son ride across Wallachia in search of an escaped Roma slave. During their journey, they meet people of different nationalities and beliefs: Turks and Russians, Romanians and Hungarians, Christians and Jews. They all nurture prejudices and superstitions passed down from generation to generation. And even when the fugitive is found, the adventure is far from over… This wild and crazy cinematic journey through the outskirts of Europe was nominated for a European Film Award for its screenplay.
18 January brings to the screen the documentary “The Coming Days Will Be Better”, winner of awards at numerous international and Polish festivals. Ten-year-old Jula has only one dream – to live a normal life. Her home is Europe’s largest landfill. Oscar-nominated Hanna Polak accompanies Jula for 14 consecutive years as she grows up at Svalka, a waste dump located 18 km from the Kremlin.
25 January we invite you to see the Hungarian film “Parking” – one of Budapest’s 24-hour car parks is run by the Legionnaire. That is his nickname, because a few years ago he served in the Foreign Legion. Even his friends do not know his real name. It does not bother them – the Legionnaire is a distinctive character, somewhat too domineering, but likeable. A golden Mustang appears at the car park. Imre, the owner of the exclusive golden beauty, chose a space under the shelter for the Mustang, the only such space in the entire car park. When the Legionnaire disagrees with this decision, Imre decides to prove to the attendant that the customer is always right. Especially when he is willing to pay any price. Any price...
