Officers from the Prevention Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra arrested a 36-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra suspected of breaking into a bank branch.
The incident occurred after midnight on 29 December. The duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters was notified of a break-in at a bank branch in Jelenia Góra.
A patrol went to the scene. The officers noticed a broken-down door and damaged walls in the branch premises.
The police searched the area near the scene, arrested the perpetrator, who admitted to committing the burglary, and found his loot—a safe containing several tens of thousands of złoty.
The perpetrator turned out to be a 36-year-old resident of Jelenia Góra who, as he explained, decided to break into the bank premises using a crowbar. After breaking in, he tore out the fixed safe and wheeled it away on a wheelbarrow. However, he did not manage to get far with it. He hid it in nearby bushes.
The man from Jelenia Góra now faces up to 10 years in prison.
