Previously, Municipal Police patrols, together with inspectors from the Department of Environmental Protection and Waste Management, had inspected the site. They warned the person supervising the company’s premises that burning waste in a furnace is prohibited by law. It did not help. Another evening visit by officers ended with a financial penalty.
Let us recall that the Municipal Police have the right to enter a property to check what materials are used for burning in heating appliances and whether the owner has a contract for waste collection. Inspections are currently underway in various parts of the city. Reports from residents are helping the “Stop Smoky Chimneys” campaign.
