Marcin Dudziak invited members of the Bolesławiec cinema’s Film Discussion Club to watch his debut feature film “The Call” and take part in a discussion after the screening.
The film “The Call” is beautiful, magnetic and mysterious cinema, appreciated at festivals in Rotterdam and Wrocław. It is an adaptation of Kazimierz Orłoś’s short story “The Kingfisher”, with wonderful cinematography by Tomasz Woźniczka. This truly New Horizons-style film, in the spirit of the great achievements of contemporary art house cinema, tells the story of a father and son’s journey down a mountain river. This journey marks the beginning of a metaphysical story about exceptional moments in the life of a ten-year-old boy.
During the discussion with the director, viewers shared the impressions and emotions the film had evoked in them. They asked questions about the film’s ambiguous message, as well as about the work involved in making it. After the hour-long meeting, some attendees moved to the cinema foyer to continue the conversation in a more intimate group.
