One of the items on the agenda of the November City Council session was a vote on granting the title “Honored for the City of Bolesławiec” to the Military Recruitment Office. Jerzy Zieliński, the city secretary:

The Military Recruitment Office is a city-shaping institution. In a garrison town such as Bolesławiec, the existence of a Military Recruitment Office serving citizens living in seven counties is a very important element in the operation of our city.

The councilors adopted the resolution unanimously. The distinction, on behalf of Col. Andrzej Łuka, was accepted by Maj. Kazimierz Poturalski.

The same was true of the resolution granting this title to the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment. Jerzy Zieliński spoke again:

The 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment continues the traditions of all the units that were stationed in Bolesławiec. A garrison town has its own specific character. We are proud that Polish soldiers are here with us, in Bolesławiec. But they carry the name of our city far and wide. And every time our soldiers go on a mission, they ask the mayor to let them take the city flag with them.

Col. Mirosław Sołtyszewski, a councilor from the Forum caucus, also joined the discussion:

Bolesławiec is one of three cities in Poland where artillery is stationed. December 4, Saint Barbara’s Day, is approaching, and Saint Barbara is also the patron saint of artillerymen. On the occasion of this holiday, I would like to wish them continued stationing and development in Bolesławiec; the city will certainly benefit from it.

The councilors also adopted this resolution unanimously. On behalf of the commander of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, Col. Paweł Świtalski, the distinction was accepted by Lt. Col. Jarosław Radzimierski.

That day, certificates granting the title “Honored for the City of Bolesławiec” were also received by: Dorota Pińczuk, a former City and Bolesławiec County Councilor and advocate of music education, who initiated many musical events, and Stanisław Szypulski, a former City Councilor involved in many initiatives promoting the development of sports in Bolesławiec and environmental efforts.
