Police officers secured 47 cannabis plants during an intervention in Kowary. Firefighters asked the police to help them enter the attic of a semi-detached building. According to the information they provided, the owner did not want to let them in, while residents reported that smoke was coming from the rooms. There was a risk that a fire could break out in the building.
The police officers who arrived at the scene found another entrance through which they entered the attic. It turned out that the owner himself had extinguished the fire before the firefighters arrived, and that it had been caused by a heater catching fire.
After looking around the room, it turned out that the device had been heating a cannabis plantation. The officers secured 47 plants at various stages of development, as well as irrigation and ventilation equipment used to grow them.
The police identified the owner of the plantation. They did not arrest him that day because he disappeared as soon as they arrived at the building. He reported to the police station two days later.
During the proceedings, he admitted to growing the plants. He may face up to 8 years in prison.
