The celebrations began with a march of the flag-bearer units and invited delegations to the Defenders of the Homeland Monument. The national anthem was then sung to the accompaniment of the Brass Band operating at the Municipal Cultural and Sports Centre in Nowogrodziec.

During the ceremony, a commemorative plaque honoring the soldiers of the Home Army on the anniversary of the establishment of the Polish Underground State was blessed and unveiled by the mayor of Nowogrodziec Robert Relich, Chairwoman of the Municipal Council Antonina Szelechowicz, Zofia Bokszańska and Aleksandra Lenartowicz.

Later in the celebrations, Lieutenant (ret.) Józef Komar, a representative of the Association of Combatants of the Republic of Poland and Former Political Prisoners, addressed those gathered. Then, to the sound of drums, delegations laid wreaths and bouquets.

After the ceremony, a Holy Mass for the Homeland was held at the parish church of Saints Peter and Paul in Nowogrodziec. The musical accompaniment was provided by the Harmonia Choir. Following the service, students from the Primary School in Nowogrodziec gave a patriotic concert.
