The main race was preceded by a ceremonial tattoo commemorating the 97th anniversary of Poland regaining independence after 123 years of captivity. After the ceremonial singing of the national anthem, torches were lit, and volunteers set off along the race route carrying them. The opening ceremony was conducted by Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski and Sports and Recreation Centre director Andrzej Gąska.
Participants in the main race had to cover a 5,500 m route running through the streets of the old town and the Market Square. After crossing the finish line, all competitors received a commemorative medal; winners in the individual categories received cash prizes and certificates, while those in the open category received cups and certificates.

- women’s open category: Anna Ficner, Natalia Nagirnjak, Klaudia Petters, Małgorzata Szeliga, Anna Zaczyńska
- men’s open category: Viktor Nagirnjak, Siergiej Krowlajdis, Krzysztof Perz, Aleksandr Łabdziuk, Michał Wenbland.
The medals and certificates were presented by Mayor Tadeusz Krzakowski, regional branch director of PKO Bank Polski Krzysztof Kociubiński, director of PKO Bank’s Branch I in Legnica Anna Ziemska, and OSiR director Andrzej Gąska. This was followed by the traditional culinary feature of Independence Day celebrated through sport – goose stew.
