The idea for the Czesław Śpiewa Solo Act concerts was born 12 years ago, when the relatively unknown Czesław Mozil played and sang wherever he could. His tours of small towns, colloquially called “Poland’s B league”, were intended to popularise the music of the Polish-Danish band Czesław Śpiewa and present Czesław Mozil to a wider audience as an alternative street musician.
In accordance with the artist’s concept, this musical journey through the country’s farthest corners maintains a balance between Czesław Mozil’s television popularity and his artistic work. The project proved to be a great success. The musician’s solo performances attract enormous interest from both young people and older music lovers. Humorous stage banter, unconventional jokes and the intimate atmosphere of small pubs and cultural centres give the artist a unique opportunity to establish a special connection with a multigenerational audience.
The result of these encounters is the platinum-status DVD “In My Tiny Little World”, which perfectly captures the atmosphere of the extraordinary concerts performed as part of Czesław Śpiewa Solo Act.
Czesław Mozil’s solo performances also showcase his masterful piano and accordion playing. A graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Music and a declared lover of waltzes, he effortlessly plays the melodies of his songs, proving that classical music does not have to be boring at all. Quite the opposite: here, classical inspirations combine with avant-garde imagination, folk influences, punk energy and a poetic mood. That is why it is futile to look for labels and easy formulas to describe Czesław Mozil’s solo concerts. As the artist himself points out, the passport to his tiny world is the ability to feel music, not understand it. And it works.
Tickets cost PLN 40 (in advance) and PLN 50 (on the day of the concert) and are available at the JCK ticket office at 28/30 Bankowa Street and at www.bilety.jck.pl. The ticket office is open Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. and for two hours before the event.
