Its members, older people facing difficult life circumstances, are currently planning a mini-tour with the performance “Little Red Riding Hood”, as well as participation in other cultural events in Legnica and the region.
The performance was created as part of the “We’ll Tell You a Fairy Tale” project, which uses intergenerational integration through art to support the social activation of Legnica seniors facing difficult life circumstances. The project is being carried out by the Polish Association of Happy Retirees in Legnica and co-financed by the city.
The result of the initiative was the performance “Little Red Riding Hood”, based on the fairy tales of Charles Perrault and the rhymed stories of Jan Brzechwa, known as “Bajki samograjki”. The project involved seniors from the Senior Club operating at the Day Care Centre on Moniuszki Street, as well as children from Primary School No. 10, their parents and grandparents.
The production was created by seniors aged 60 and over and children aged 6 and over. During workshops and in working groups, the project participants prepared the scenery, costumes and props later used in the performance themselves. The group planned and organised the cultural event “We’ll Tell You a Fairy Tale”, during which the performance was staged. The premiere took place on 21 October this year.
