Basia and Marek live in Sweden. One innocent lie sets off an avalanche of suspicions and leads to Swedish social services secretly taking their beloved daughter away and placing her with foster parents. The daughter’s love for her mother is put to the test. The parents must confront a merciless bureaucracy for which human feelings do not matter. Faced with this nightmare, Basia and Marek decide to embark on a dramatic struggle to regain their daughter, dangerously balancing on the edge of the law. “Stranger Heaven” by Dariusz Gajewski is a story based on true events, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats like the best thriller. Alongside the outstanding Agnieszka Grochowska and Bartłomiej Topa, the screen features the excellent nine-year-old debutante Basia Kubiak and Scandinavian cinema legend Ewa Fröling.
