The incident occurred on Saturday during the inauguration of the academic year at the University of the Third Age. After the opening ceremony, a friend of MP Marzena Machałek of Law and Justice began handing out election leaflets. Everything took place in the building of Municipal School Complex No. 2 in Bolesławiec, at Jana Pawła II Street.
– I am a friend of MP Machałek. Please ask the MP about the reasons for distributing the leaflets – the woman handing them out to people replied when asked why she was doing so.
– I did not distribute the leaflets. If they were distributed, it was because someone wanted to receive them. I am opposed to campaigning among minors. The person who came with me probably handed out one or two – MP Marzena Machałek explained. When we pointed out that there had been many more leaflets and that they had been given to random students, she replied that “her colleague probably got carried away because she had not been assigned to do that.”
– Nowadays, whatever one does, it will be considered campaigning. I try to maintain standards. I do not think anything improper happened. I myself saw other candidates campaigning in this building. Another female candidate was here earlier today, and I saw her leaflets. I will not say who it was; please figure it out yourselves – Marzena Machałek added.
Apart from MP Marzena Machałek, Zofia Czernow of Civic Platform was also present at the meeting.
The provisions of the Electoral Code state that electioneering among students is prohibited on school premises.
