The commemorative statuette and an investment grant of PLN 15,000 were accepted by Robert Starzyński, head of Sulików Municipality, on 7 October this year in Warsaw. The presentation took place during a jubilee ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the Polish Power Transmission and Distribution Association, in the presence of representatives of the government, parliament and the energy sector.
The competition was held as part of PTPiREE’s educational campaign “Poland. Energy Makes Things Work Better.” Sulików Municipality was among the six distinguished local government units—out of 2,478 municipalities in the country—whose everyday activities, initiatives and efforts supporting the reliability and security of energy supplies received the highest evaluations. The following local governments were also honored:
- Kościan Municipality
- Zalewo Municipality
- Lubycza Królewska Municipality
- Warsaw City Office – the budgetary unit Warsaw Municipal Roads Authority
- Stanisławów Municipality.
Robert Starzyński:
Participating in the competition gave us an opportunity to showcase our activities in the field of energy efficiency and the experience we are trying to make the best possible use of. We decided to submit projects that, in our opinion, have a significant impact on promoting the municipality and demonstrate our good relations with the energy companies operating in our area.
The implementation of key investments aimed at improving the quality of the power system’s operation and ensuring more reliable electricity supplies largely depends on local governments’ decisions regarding the issuance of permits. Without successful cooperation between local governments and energy companies, many of these projects would not be carried out as efficiently as they are today.
