Over the past several months, officers from the Lubin police station received numerous reports of bicycles, power tools and other items being stolen from basements, utility rooms and garages in Lubin.
The case was taken up by criminal investigators, who detained the perpetrator... of 57 offences.
As it turned out, the 48-year-old resident of Ścinawa municipality had made burglary a regular source of income, carrying it out systematically from June to October this year. He stole property worth a total of more than PLN 60,000.
The man most often broke into basements, pram rooms and other utility rooms using a tool that he used to open padlocks. When that did not work, he forced them open or damaged them in another way, defeating the security measures. Police officers also found numerous keys on him.
The man sold the stolen property to random people. He was interested in anything of any value, including bicycles, fishing rods, drills, grinders, other power tools and car tyres.
The perpetrator had previously been convicted of theft and burglary. He pleaded guilty. He faces up to 10 years in prison. Police supervision was also imposed on him.
