It should be borne in mind that explosives used in military technology are, in practice, completely resistant to weather conditions and retain their explosive properties regardless of their date of manufacture.
Failure to observe proper safety measures after finding unexploded ordnance or a misfired shell, and improper conduct resulting from a lack of awareness of the danger involved, may lead to many tragedies or even death.
Rules of conduct when an unexploded or misfired shell is found
- do not touch it, and in particular do not pick it up or move it; do not use any tools on the object
- if possible, secure the place where it was found against interference by other people
- notify the police
- remain near the find until the police arrive—do not allow other people to handle the object.
