Officers from Kowary detained two residents of the town, aged 17 and 22, who are suspected of theft. The detention took place on October 5, 2015. At around 3:10 p.m., a man called the Kowary Police Station and reported the theft of a scooter worth PLN 6,000. The victim stated that the crime had occurred while he was at his allotment, and the moped was parked in a parking lot near the allotment gardens. He also described the stolen scooter.
After being notified of the incident, police officers began searching for the stolen moped. Several minutes later, on one of the streets in Kowary, they noticed a scooter that looked like the one they were searching for. Two young men were riding it. The police stopped them for inspection.
The officers' suspicions were confirmed—the vehicle was indeed the moped being sought, and the men riding it are suspected of stealing the vehicle.
It is worth noting that the moped was found before the victim went to the police station to report the theft.
The residents of Kowary were placed in police custody. It is possible that they have committed other crimes as well. They face up to five years in prison.
