Florian Zeller offers us extraordinarily perverse answers to the question of whether any betrayal makes sense. If, from one day to the next, people stopped lying to one another, not a single couple would remain on earth. And, in a certain sense, it would be the end of civilization. As Alicja Müller wrote on Teatralia.com.pl:

An erotic cabaret of deceptions, mistakes and astonishments takes shape on stage. The art of lying exposes its own shortcomings—in volleys of arguments swollen with ever-new fabrications, the truth accidentally intrudes, while not nearly as sophisticated as they might seem, the fabulists lose themselves in the recesses of their own stories. The strength of Zeller’s text lies precisely in the brilliant, ironic dialogues, often constructed on the basis of imperfect repetitions. The flawless cast completes the whole.
