From 14 September to 1 October, approximately 550 first-grade pupils from primary schools in Bolesławiec took part in six meetings.
The aim of the meetings was to familiarise first-graders with the basic rules of participating in road traffic. In addition, all participants received reflective accessories. Using an interactive presentation prepared for the youngest pupils, the children travelled along a virtual route through the city, learning and reinforcing the traffic regulations applicable to pedestrians, as well as basic road signs. The video materials and visualisations shown demonstrated the dangers of crossing the road in places not designated for that purpose.
As each group made its actual journey back from the meeting, the pupils could see how important it is to pay attention to what is happening on the road and to follow the applicable rules.
The meetings were led by officers from the Bolesławiec Municipal Police. The second stage will include meetings for interested pupils in the second and third grades.
The “Safe Journey to School – Throughout the School Year” initiative is being carried out as part of the “Safe Bolesławiec” Project, which received funding from the Ministry of the Interior as part of the government programme for reducing crime and antisocial behaviour, “Together Safer”.
