Competition rules

  1. Purpose. The purpose of the competition is to save the art of letter writing from oblivion, including placing importance on the aesthetic and legible recording of the letter’s content (e.g. using stationery); and to develop imagination and the ability to express oneself freely through one’s own texts.
  2. Theme: “If I could turn back time...” – a letter on this subject may be addressed to a real or fictional person; it may also be an open letter. Each participant has the right to interpret and develop the theme freely according to their own wishes.
  3. Format: Each person may submit one letter written by hand in legible handwriting. Illegible letters will not be assessed. Competition entries must be written on paper (a notebook sheet, stationery, etc.) and take the form of a letter placed in an envelope. The envelope should also contain a separate sheet with the participant’s details: first and last name, address (and, if applicable, email address), contact telephone number, and consent to the publication and processing of personal data (solely for the promotional purposes of the competition).
  4. Participation requirements: Entries in the following age categories will be assessed: CATEGORY I: ages 10–12, CATEGORY II: ages 13–15, CATEGORY III: age 16 and above
  5. Assessment and prizes: cThe submitted letters will be assessed by a Competition Committee composed of writers. The Organiser provides attractive prizes in kind for the two younger categories, while adults will receive gift vouchers in addition to prizes in kind. Their value depends on the Competition Committee’s verdict and the number of winning places awarded.
