A charity concert by the BOJAGAMA band was held at the “Jarzębina” Community House in Trzebień. It was merely a pretext for an active group of people eager to help, who had heard about the situation of a young resident of Bożejowice.

“We read about the boy in ‘Wieści Gminne,’” says Agnieszka Faltyn, one of the people most involved in the campaign and also the band’s vocalist. “We thought that since we were planning to organize our concert anyway, why not combine it with a fundraiser? The Trzebień Association, the Trzebień Volunteer Fire Brigade and the local Housewives’ Circle immediately declared their willingness to act.”

A few phone calls were enough for the plan to take concrete shape, as many willing volunteers and sponsors became involved in the assistance and organization. Each day, more items for the auction or lottery were collected at the “Jarzębina” Community House, while the municipal Housewives’ Circles declared their help in organizing the café.

Even before the scheduled start of the concert, the aforementioned café with cakes and the prize lottery were besieged. People buying tickets or cake often put more money into the collection boxes. The concert began with performances by young people from Trzebień—Emilia Urban and Aleksandra Faltyn. They served as the opening act for BOJAGAMA, which entertained the gathered audience for several hours. The group, consisting of Agnieszka Miszkiewicz, Grażyna Dwornik-Biały, Małgorzata Suchcicka, Agnieszka Faltyn, Mateusz Rycerz and Bogusław Weiss, gave the audience a unique concert accompanied by a multimedia slideshow of photos of young Wojtek. The performance was interrupted by auctions of items donated by sponsors and other people of goodwill. A children’s swing donated by the boy’s parents was also available for auction. It attracted the greatest bidding battle and was ultimately sold for PLN 500. The auctioned items also included quilts and pillows from Textil Trzebień, gold-plated chains from Marta of Leszno, ceramic products from the Artistic Ceramics Cooperative of Artistic Handicrafts in Bolesławiec, handicrafts made by members of the Pro Futuris Foundation from Kraśnik Dolny, wooden toys donated by Zbigniew Bożęcki, bas-reliefs made by students of the Primary School in Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka, a kayaking voucher from the Trzebień Association and a collection of 1980s toy cars from Janusz Szymański.

Every złoty placed in the collection boxes brought emotion to the faces of Wojtek’s parents, Katarzyna and Szymon Zakrzewski, who attended the event. They were accompanied, of course, by Wojtuś himself, who also received gifts from the Trzebień Housewives’ Circle, Zbigniew Bożęcki and the organizers, led by Agnieszka Faltyn.

The shared festivities continued until 10 p.m., by which time all the items had been auctioned, not a crumb of the cake remained, and all the lottery tickets had been sold.

“Thank you all for being here with us,” Szymon Zakrzewski said at the end. “I hope that soon I will also be able to tell you that Wojtek has already undergone surgery. For now, your help and commitment are bringing us closer to it.”

We are keeping our fingers crossed for brave Wojtuś. For those who would like to support the boy’s treatment, we provide a link to the “Się pomaga” Foundation’s website, through which it is possible not only to make donations but also to follow the progress of the fundraiser. https://www.siepomaga.pl/serce-wojtka

We will provide the exact amount raised during the concert once we receive it from the COR INFANTIS Foundation, which formally conducted the fundraiser for the boy’s surgery on Friday and whose sealed collection boxes held the money.

The concert was organized by the “Jarzębina” Community House in Trzebień, BOJAGAMA, the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec with its registered office in Kruszyn, the village head of Trzebień, the Trzebień Housewives’ Circle, the Trzebień Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Trzebień Association, the “Durda” Trading and Services Company, the Pro Futuris Foundation and others.
