The exhibition consists of products typical of Bolesławiec manufacturers, dating from the Renaissance to the present day. Among them, visitors will be able to see, among other things, selected archaeological finds from a pottery workshop discovered several years ago on Piaskowa Street, dating from the 16th and the first half of the 17th century, as well as 18th- and 19th-century vessels preserved in excellent condition. The exhibition also includes 20th-century and contemporary stoneware.
The selection of exhibits demonstrates the diversity of methods used to produce and finish Bolesławiec stoneware over the last several centuries. Those accustomed to contemporary products may be surprised by the distinctiveness and variety of the older pieces, as well as by the artistry of their decoration: stoneware vessels could be covered with stamped, painted or spray decoration, or decorated with a slip-trailer; a wide range of brown, white and coloured glazes in various shades was used.
The vessels typical of Bolesławiec, covered with brown earthy glaze and decorated with exceptionally ornamental white appliqués, certainly deserve particular attention, as do jugs with ribbed bodies.
