For the 11th time, Legnica residents were able to take part in a competition organised by the Sports and Recreation Centre. This year, it took place on Najświętszej Marii Panny Street. The contestants taking part in the championships had one hour to make as many pierogi as possible. The participants even included two women from the United States, who said they were pierogi enthusiasts.
Ms Agnieszka Kuganda proved unbeatable, finishing ahead of Anna Singh, last year’s winner, on the podium. Third place went to Bogusława Koselska, who summed up the competition as follows: “I could take part in competitions like this all year round, and I could even keep making pierogi now.”
The prizes were presented by President Tadeusz Krzakowski: “Just watching you work, ladies, is a great feast for all of us. To enter a competition like this, you need courage—and that in itself is a victory.”
Asked to say a few words, the competition winner said: “It was great fun for me. I signed up ten minutes before the competition started and won.”
At the end, Legnica residents were able to sample together the delicacies made by the contestants.
